Acquired today, Battlefield 3 – Limited Edition!
This supposedly pre-order only version is still available from JB HiFi for $79, but head on up to Harvey Norman, tell them you saw it @ JB and you’ll score the LIMITED EDITION for just $72!!
Surprisingly it wasn’t displayed on the shelves there, but hidden behind the counter – so ask.
LE includes access to an up coming expansion pack “Back To Karkand” – free of charge!
I spotted the Standard edition in Dick Smith for $69 – but why would you?
See you tonight for a DEMO – just about to lock and load.
Good for GO this Friday, in the meantime, check out this video if you didn’t catch it.
A HOT lap of Bathurst with 3 time Nascar Cup Champion Darren Waltrip “commenting” in the passenger seat. Let’s hope he had a spare pair of underpants!
Yep, that’s me, thanks for the cudo’s Raw 🙂
Unless we’re snowed in or the road washes away completely during the week, we’re set for GO this Friday (21/10).
NEW GAME … well, not NEW, but new to me … and best of all, it’s FREE!
A rainy day with the family, about to start a ‘friendly’ game when we were watching ‘Spawn Point’ on ABC.
Briefly mentioned was a mailed in question about the online game – “Ace of Spaces” – http://ace-spades.com/
It will play on ANY PC “your grandmothers rig can run this game” – we tested on a single core Atom processor successfully – but we did have some trouble connecting to servers in Chrome and Firefox, while IE9 worked fine.
Very much like “Mine Craft” but with the added bonus of a shoot’em, this game had the family HOOKED for the afternoon 🙂 We all found it pretty addictive.
Graphics are pretty basic & block like, BUT, here’s the bonus: you can build defences like bunkers or towers as you go or even tunnel under your opposition to sneak up behind them to blast’em to bits and capture their intel!
We played a large variety of maps including islands, forests, cities and mountains, there’s lots of variety. There’s plenty of people involved in making custom mods and maps for the game too, expanding it further.
The game is still in Beta at this stage, but seems reasonably bug free and is updated fairly regularly looking at the game’s blog. The only problem we had was on one server where only one person could join the green team and everyone else was on blue.
Below is someone else’s screenshot from the site which shows what’s possible with team work and gives you an idea of it’s look and scale.
V8SC3 – HDCP Bathurst – 5 lap practice race Damage on, collision off, mandatory pit
T 1:42. P R – failed to pit!
After initial REFUSAL by Raw & Parts to partake in a 40 lap race, much discussion and negotiation took place until they were eventually convinced that the only way to truely honour the drivers and put ourselves in their seat to see what it’s like to race the big race, was to try the untried mamoth marathon.
40 LAPS … mandatory pit stop, Damage ON, Collision OFF (negotiated)
Tone: Total time 1:13.10 – Fastest Lap 1:45.13 Raw: Total time 1:13.59 – Fastest lap 1:44.91 Parts: DNF – Fastest lap 1:48.97
Tone in his “Pig’s Arse” homebrew sponsored Falcon pitted twice during the race, while Raw pitted three times, mucking the first one up and contentiously trying to claim victory because of his unfortunate lack of skill. On lap 36, Tone was leading and his tyres were wearing badly with Raw about half a lap behind. Tone decided to risk all by continuing on, nursing his tires to the end. This caused his only bad scrape with the wall on lap 38 when things got rather slippery and sideways, which produced a bit of damage and reducing his lap time even further, but he managed to hang on for a convincing victory after more than an hour of solid racing to claim the well deserved title, “King of the mountain”. While this was all going on, Parts had been lapped 3 times before he decided to drive his car into the ground by refusing to pit and undergo repairs after a major misshap. He ended up sitting beside the track with 3 blown tyres.
We can neither confirm nor deny that Black Ops was played, or whether Raw caned our collective assses.
